In response to patient feedback we are trialling a new appointment system from 3rd June which will increase the number of appointments available to book online and assist with providing improved access to emergency appointments.
We hope the following will be of benefit to you:
More routine GP appointments will be available to book in advance online.
We would encourage you to book appointments with your registered GP so that you have continuity of care. This is important if you are having investigations/tests or are receiving a long term course of treatment.
You will be able to book online appointments at a time convenient to you. The booking system is open 24 hours, so if you are on shift work or have family commitments this should help you.
For the online appointment service you will be asked to give a reason for why you need the appointment. We may telephone you for a reason if you do not put one down. We need to ensure that you will be seen by the appropriate clinician.
More urgent medical appointments will be available on the day.
It is essential that patients with an immediate medical need are seen; therefore please do not ask to be seen on the same day for a routine problem.
For patients with an urgent medical need, we may ask you to see another clinician other than a GP. If we are unable to help, you may also be asked to contact 111 or the urgent care service as an alternative to seeing one of our clinicians. This will only be given as an option if all our on the day emergency appointments are booked and we do not have any appointments available.
Please do not request an urgent medical appointment for private medicals, GP letters, repeat prescriptions or travel immunisations. Please speak to a receptionist who will assist you with booking an appropriate appointment.
Please remember if you have online access you can do the following on your phone or tablet;
Book appointmentsSee your full test resultsOrder repeat prescriptionsSee your medical records
If you do not have online access and would like some help in setting it up please ask our reception staff who would be happy to help.
When booking online please state if you need an interpreter and which language. Please note this is a telephone interpreting service.
System below is currently unavailable due to Covid-19, all GP consultations are telephone or video at this time.
We operate an appointment system of 10 minute consultations with doctors and between 10 and 20 minutes with practice nurses.
Appointments can normally be booked up to 8 weeks in advance.
If you need to see a doctor urgently we may offer an emergency appointment. Please note that these are not for repeat medication, sick notes, letters or routine problems.
You will be asked why you need to see a GP by the receptionist to ensure this is the best way to assist you.
Telephones are manned between 8.30 and 6.30 Monday to Friday. Please note that receptionists will ask 'why you need to be seen': this is to ensure you are booked for the most appropriate medical care, with the most suitable health professional and most appropriate timescale.
You may also be advised to speak to a pharmacist instead of seeing a GP.
An appointment text reminder messaging service is available to all patients. You will automatically be signed up to this if you have given us a mobile number, if you do not wish to receive a reminder text please speak to a receptionist.
If you are 10 minutes or more late for your appointment you will not be seen and will need to book another appointment. The missed appointment will count as a 'Missed Appointment'.
It is important to cancel any appointments if they are no longer required giving at least 1 hours notice. Please phone the surgery or send a text to 07800 000199 with CANCEL no other details are needed if your mobile number is recorded on your records (please note that this mobile number only accepts text messages)
You can cancel and manage your appointments online - please ask for login details.
Failure to attend pre-booked appointments
If you fail to attend a pre-booked appointment, we will write to you to advise you that you have missed an appointment and that you are responsible for notifying the practice if you need to cancel an appointment.
If you fail to attend a second appointment at any time, a letter will be sent to you advising that a further missed appointment could lead to your removal from our register.
Should you fail to attend a third appointment at any time, you will be removed from our register following discussion and agreement from your registered GP.
NHS England and NHS Improvement - East of England have been alerted to an issue whereby a patient appears to have been the victim of a scam relating to flu jabs.
The patient was contacted over the phone by a person purporting to be a GP working at their local GP practice and that, for a fee, the GP could attend their home to administer their flu jab. Unfortunately the patient gave out their bank account details and has sadly suffered a financial loss.
“If someone claiming to be from the NHS contacts you by phone and asks for a payment, please be aware they could be a criminal trying to trick you. Most NHS services are free at the point of use and NHS professionals are very unlikely to ask for fees such as prescription charges by phone. We advise you not to share bank account details or other financial information unless you are sure of who you are talking to.”
We would ask that you continue to be vigilant.
You can report any concerns or suspicions you have about fraud or corruption within the NHS or wider health group to the NHS Counter Fraud Authority by calling our FREE 24hr confidential fraud reporting hotline powered by Crimestoppers on 0800 028 4060. You can also make a report to the NHSCFA using our online NHS fraud reporting tool.
Should you have any queries you can contact NHS England and NHS Improvement by:
Telephone: 0300 311 22 33 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org General Post (including complaints): NHS England, PO Box 16738, Redditch, B97 9PT
The practice with all its facilities, is the best place to hold a consultation. However home visits will be made if:
as a result of your illness, you are unable to be transported to the surgery.
the doctors consider that it would be medically unsafe for you to attend.
Requests for home visits should be made before 10:00am.
Home visits will be made either by a GP or our Paramedic.
